Althing 2008

Thursday, October 16 through Sunday, October 19, 2008 Camp Hoskins, Fort Flagler State Park, WA

Held at historic Fort Flagler overlooking Puget Sound the Althing is a gathering in celebration of faith and culture in ritual, workshops, discussions, demonstrations and activities honoring the and the old ways; sumbel, blóts, initiation, and rites of community and passage, as well just plain fun.


There will be special activities for children and we encourage the whole family to attend.

REGISTRATION

$75 per person includes meals and sleeping quarters for the event. Day passes are $20 per day (includes all activities and meals, but no sleeping quarters). Children under 16 are free when accompanying parents or guardians.


Three or more people (over the age of 16) registering and paying together at one time receive a 10% discount.


Organizations and groups may reserve rooms for holding their own meetings at no additional charge beyond registration of members.


Weddings may be scheduled on a reservation basis, for more information call 206.446.9971.


There are tent camping and RV hook up sites near by; for more information and reservations contact the Washington State Park Department or go to http://www.parks.wa.gov.


VENDORS

Vendors are welcome. There is no extra charge for vending although a donation for the auction would be appreciated.

Driving Directions

Driving Directions Located eight miles northeast of Hadlock (Port Hadlock), Washington., on the northern tip of Marrowstone Island.


From Seattle or Edmonds:

Take Kingston Ferry or Bainbridge Island Ferry or if coming from Tacoma on Hwy 16 through Bremerton, and follow signs to Hood Canal Bridge . Cross over and drive five miles, then turn right onto easily-missed Hwy. 19 (Beaver Valley Rd.). Travel 10 miles to the Chimacum four-way stop. There is a Chevron gas station on the right. Take a right on Chimacum-Center Rd. At four-way stop in Port Hadlock, turn right onto Oak Bay Rd. Go approximately one mile (look for signs and be in the left hand lane) and turn left onto SR 116. Fort Flagler is at end of road, approximately 10 miles from the Oak Bay Rd. Continue forward through the park until you reach the big flag pole. Camp Hoskins is on the right.


From Port Townsend:

Drive south out of town on Sims Way and continue south on Hwy 20 for approximately 2.5 miles to the stop light. Continue straight onto Hwy 19. Travel three miles to Ness' Corner Road and turn left. At the four way stop in Port Hadlock, continue straight onto Oak Bay Road. After approximately one mile, turn left onto State Route 116. Follow the route to the end of the road and directly into the park.
