this site is very weird reading to me. i am a young dane who have followed the nordic way for some years now. and never have i seen so meny confusing statements. most of the people writing here clearly have no idea of what the nordic way(ase & vane tro)realy is, and is mixing it with celtic beleifs, witchcraft and other non-nordic beleifs. also i have a hard time understanding how americans, canadians and people from europe can claim to follow the nordic gods, when they dont live in the north? if i were to leave the north(not a chance!), i would follow the powers that is native to my new home. so if i moved to america i would follow the native american religion. i beleive that the native gods would be far more powerfull and far more likely to help me, than the nordic gods. i dont belive that any religion is all-powerfull, all-world concouring. it is NOT a question of race, but a question of where you are and therefore what nature and energies that sorrounds you. i am not angry at non-nordic worshippers, i just think that they are wasting time and energy, that could have been better spendt.

This faith is a beautiful thing that has so much to teach and offer and yet it seems that the vast majority seem only to be in it for their own inflated egos. I dont even mean just the new bucks either Im talking people who claim to be in this for Years, even thoughs many of us look up to for guidance and read their books and listen to their lectures. Our ancestors most prized moral ( if you will) was the ability to be self reliant to be able to make up their own minds to see things the way they wished it to be seen. Sure there were sheep even amoung them, but they sure as hell werent the ones we read about in our stories. They were the men and women who were bold enough to do something, and that my friend is the underlying message here. We all need to get off our butts and Do, mainly be researching the past, quit bringing in other ideas to the beliefs they are fine the way they are, but we all need to try to understand more of what is already there. Dont just read the eddas, to many who read them now place modern ideals or fanatsy ideas on them, read books that express the sociological background of our people. Try to see it from their view point. Read books on the people they encountered through trade and war and colonization, learn the languages get a better understanding of what it is to be norse. Understand that not everyone in the past practiced the same way not everyone worshipped the same gods or even saw them in the same light. I realize I am being a bit harsh here, keep in mind it is 5 am in the morning and I have yet to be to bed so im not all there, but non the less this will still ring very true to me in the morning. Our gods are our family they are what tie us to a history that is rich and full in all sorts of majesty.once we al start doing this more and more people will start to take us seriously. Hell I cant tell you how many "pagans" dont even know what asatru is or even about northern european beliefs in general , and how much of our culture is caked in their neo beliefs? It is time to take a stand, let us truely honour the gods, let their glory be seen in the way we are seen by the world. Many believe they are modern vikings get over it people they were only a small part of our long history. This faith is a beautiful thing that has so much to teach and offer and yet it seems that the vast majority seem only to be in it for their own inflated egos. I dont even mean just the new bucks either Im talking people who claim to be in this for Years, even thoughs many of us look up to for guidance and read their books and listen to their lectures. Our ancestors most prized moral ( if you will) was the ability to be self reliant to be able to make up their own minds to see things the way they wished it to be seen. Sure there were sheep even amoung them, but they sure as hell werent the ones we read about in our stories. They were the men and women who were bold enough to do something, and that my friend is the underlying message here. We all need to get off our butts and Do, mainly be researching the past, quit bringing in other ideas to the beliefs they are fine the way they are, but we all need to try to understand more of what is already there. Dont just read the eddas, to many who read them now place modern ideals or fanatsy ideas on them, read books that express the sociological background of our people. Try to see it from their view point. Read books on the people they encountered through trade and war and colonization, learn the languages get a better understanding of what it is to be norse. Understand that not everyone in the past practiced the same way not everyone worshipped the same gods or even saw them in the same light. I realize I am being a bit harsh here, keep in mind it is 5 am in the morning and I have yet to be to bed so im not all there, but non the less this will still ring very true to me in the morning. Our gods are our family they are what tie us to a history that is rich and full in all sorts of majesty.once we al start doing this more and more people will start to take us seriously. Hell I cant tell you how many "pagans" dont even know what asatru is or even about northern european beliefs in general , and how much of our culture is caked in their neo beliefs? It is time to take a stand, let us truely honour the gods, let their glory be seen in the way we are seen by the world. I have been an individual worshiper of the asgardians ever since the first persian gulf war, and midgards warder helped me through some extreemly difficult situations during that time. Therfore my loyalties are to the holy red bearded one, but i respect all the high ones of my ancestors. Strange story how i came across a Thors hammer pendant during the war and it truely indowed me with peace of mind as well as protection from the hammers master that really is hard to explain in words.
